BIBE 2008 – Announcement and Call for Papers
October 8-10, 2008, Athens, Greece


This year’s BIBE will be held in October 8-10, 2008, in Athens, one of the world’s oldest cities with a huge recorded history and cultural heritage.
The annual IEEE BIBE aims at building synergy between Bioinformatics and Bioengineering, two complementary disciplines that hold great promise for the advancement of research and development in complex medical and biological systems, agriculture, environment, public health, drug design. BIBE solicits original contributions in the following non exclusive lists of areas:
BioInformatics: Bio-molecular and Phylogenetic Databases; Query Languages, Interoperability, Bio-Ontology and Data Mining; Identification and Classification of Genes; Sequence Search and Alignment; Protein Structure Prediction and Molecular Simulation; Molecular Evolution and Phylogeny; Functional Genomics, Proteomics; Drug Discovery; Gene Expression Analysis; Data Visualization; Systems Biology; Algorithms, Modelling and Simulation of Bio-Sets; Biomarkers of Toxicity; Bio-Imaging; Signalling and Computation

Paper Submission and Publication
The submissions should contain original, high quality, not submitted or published elsewhere work. All accepted papers will be included in proceedings of BIBE 2008 that will be published by the IEEE. Extended versions of selected papers of the conference will be invited for publication in special issues of IEEE and other International Journals (SCI Indexed).

Acceptance Notification: July 15, 2008
Camera Ready Paper: August 5, 2008
