11 PhD and 5 postdoctoral fellowships are available for candidates interested in research on neurotechnology, neuroprosthetics, computational neuroscience, data analysis and modeling, translational neuroscience and neurosurgery, neural engineering and neurology.
Neurotechnology is a rapidly growing field of research, thriving to repair, replace or support physical functions affected by nervous system diseases by technical means.
At the Bernstein Focus for Neurotechnology (BFNT) electrical and chemical signals recorded in the brain to control external or implanted devices, are exploited.
The BFNT efforts are organized in projects on fundamental neurotechnological research, the development of new techniques, clinical testing and neuroethical considerations.
Right now, the following positions are available:
PhD-Positions:
* 1 position in project A2 (BFNT): Voluntary control of neuronal correlations for Brain-Machine-Interfaces (BMIs)
* 1 position in project A3 (BFNT): Co-Adaptivity of brain and machine: interaction of two learning systems
* 1 position in project A4 (BFNT): Adaptive interception of epileptic events based on predictive network dynamics
* 2 positions in project B1 (BFNT): Development, prototyping, fabrication and testing individualized long-term safe electrode arrays
* 1 position in project B2 (BFNT): Multielectrode arrays with adjustable stiffness
* 1 position in project B3 (BFNT): Improving microelectrodes for single cell recordings in the human brain
* 1 position in project B5 (BFNT): NetCAD: An environment for 3D structural modeling of biological neuronal networks
* 2 positions in project C4 (BFNT): Real time metabolite sensing for feedback control of behaviour in neurological disorders
* 1 position in project C5 (BFNT): Multicontact stimulation techniques for interventions in human focal epilepsy
Postdoc-Positions:
* 1 position in project A3 (BFNT): Co-Adaptivity of brain and machine: interaction of two learning systems
* 1 position in project A5 (BFNT): Defined stimulus-response functions in active networks
* 1 position in project B3 (BFNT): Improving microelectrodes for single cell recordings in the human brain
* 1 position in project B4 (BFNT): NeurOnline: System for on-site/on-line monitoring of neuronal population activity
