This message is to inform you that the CNCC Essay Award for Junior
Scholars has been launched. The European Science Foundation offers two
essay prizes of € 1.500 each for academic papers related to the topics of the EUROCORES Programme CNCC – Consciousness in a Natural and Cultural Context. The six finalist papers, including the two winners, will be published on the journal Psyche (http://psyche.cs.monash.edu.au/) in early 2009.


The competition is open to researchers in the field of consciousness
studies who are PhD students at the moment or that have recently completed their PhD, i.e. dissertation must have been defended no earlier than June 30, 2005. Aside from these constraints, no age limit is set, while participation of younger scholars is highly encouraged. The deadline for submission is *15 February 2008*.
