The INCF has launched an international initiative to develop a xml based descriptive language for integrate-and-fire neural network modeling, led by Prof. E. De Schutter. To support this effort the Belgian National Neuroinformatics Node at the University of Antwerp is recruiting a scientific collaborator to coordinate the work of the INCF task force, contribute to the development of the language and set up and manage a community website for the language. In addition the collaborator will contribute to the operation of the Belgian National Neuroinformatics Node.


Candidates should have working knowledge of xml and of integrate-and-fire neural network modeling and have good English language conservation and writing skills. Preference will be given to candidates who fulfill one or more of the following criteria: have a PhD relevant to the project, have a background in computer science, be able to communicate in Dutch, have experience in creating websites.
The appointment will be for a duration of 3 years at the University of Antwerp, Belgium and involve frequent travel to task force meetings. Standard university salary scale based on highest degree, position is supported by FWO Flanders and by INCF. Appointment can start January 2009 and preferentially no later than spring 2009.
