A post-doctoral position is available for 1 year at the Neurocybernetic team, Cergy-Pontoise, France. This position is funded by the Feelix Growing European project, aiming at modeling and understanding the role of emotional mechanisms in the communication and learning of autonomous robots.

Started in january 2007, our team has already developed and tested Neural Networks models allowing :
* the emergence of emotional expression recognition from a simple imitation game with an expressive robotic head – the learning of paths (anchored via the recognition of visual places) and trajectories (as a sequence of sensori-motor correction of the dynamics) with mobiles robots – the generation of negative vs positive emotions from physical and/or social environmental conflicts preventing or helping a mobile robot to fullfill motivations.
The research fellow will have to plan and lead the integration of key properties of these NN models and embed them on various demonstrative robotic platforms, mainly two robosoft mobile robulabs and one Aldebaran Nao humanoid robot.
Good skills in the following areas will be appreciated : Neural Networks, Artificial Intelligence, Dynamical Systems, C, Parallel Programing, Embeded Programming.
Salary scale: approx. euro 28,000–31,000 for one year (corresponding to euro 22,980–26,400 net salary) The position is expected to start on march 2009 Applications should be sent to : pierre(dot)andry(at)ensea(dot)fr and philippe(dot)gaussier(at)ensea(dot)fr
