A number of full-time vision neuroscience positions are available
immediately at Brain Corporation, San Diego, CA at the level of scientist
(postdoc), senior scientist (assistant professor), and principal scientist (associate/full professor) to complement the existing team of computational neuroscientists in developing a biologically detailed spiking model of the mammalian visual system.

REQUIREMENTS: All candidates must have both (1) lab experience doing in vivo vision neuroscience and electrophysiology, including single- or multiunit recordings, and (2) published record of research analyzing unit activity. Preference will be given to those who collaborate with computational neuroscientists on spiking models and spike-timing dynamics.
The major responsibility of the vision neuroscientists will be daily
theoretical brainstorming with computational neuroscientists on spiking
models of visual processing. The principal scientist will lead the whole neuroscience group.
No programming is required, though familiarity with MATLAB and C/C++ is a plus.
Brain Corporation is funded to pursue an ambitious goal of developing a
biologically realistic spiking model of visual processing. It is located in the proximity to the UCSD campus and the Salk Institute. Employee compensation package at Brain Corporation includes annual performance-based bonuses, matching 401k contributions, and a stock option grant. Additionally, employees have access to facilities and amenities of its partner – Qualcomm Inc. – a leader in semiconductor technology.
Submit your resume and relevant papers to Dr. Eugene M. Izhikevich at
jobs(at)braincorporation(dot)com. In your cover letter address both requirements. Selection of candidates will start at the COSYNE meeting.
