The Visual Cortical Implant (Wikipedia)

While the first visual prosthetic is approaching the market, a few new retinal/cortical implants are in the wings. Argus II became the first commercially available visual prosthesis seeking to receive approval to reach the market  in the United States by late 2012.

As the excitement over the Argus II increases at a fever pitch, other sight restoration virtual prostheses systems are on the verge of development.
