The brain is probably the most important and yet mysterious organ of the human. As a major home health reference on the brain, Dana Guide to Brain Health “emphasizes how the latest scientific findings are being translated into actual treatment of people in pain or puzzlement”. A group of prominent scientists and clinicians in United States in the field of neuroscience, neurology and psychiatry, was assembled to contribute to this excellent book. This high-quality illustrated resource contains useful information and advice on how to care for our brain from birth until adulthood.
BrainML is a developing initiative to provide a standard XML metaformat for exchanging neuroscience data. It focuses on layered definitions built over a common core in order to support community-driven extension.
One such extension is provided by the new NIH-supported neuroinformatics initiative of the Society for Neuroscience, which supports the development of expert-derived terminology sets for several areas of neuroscience.
The BrainML project is funded by the Human Brain Project-Informatics initiative via MH/NS57153 from the NIMH and NINDS and is directed by:

Neurophysiology is a study of neurons, nerves, and nervous systems, what they do and how they do it. A neuron is a cell that is specialized in two of the fundamental properties of living matter, namely excitability and conductivity. Excitability is the ability to respond to changes in the environment.
